The project was designed in January 2020 and construction is currently underway. A guest cottage is to replace an existing storage shed on the North-Eastern corner of the estate.
The cottage was to be self-sufficient of the main villa, include a mezzanine-bedroom, an open-plan living area and kitchen downstairs. A long counter links to the exterior through punctured opening for use from both sides.
The existing swimming pool to the south of the cottage invites cool air through the width of the lounge. Re-use of doors and windows from demolition sites and re-purposed timber for stoep are set to match the charm of the existing house. This is also a suitable expression for the quaint artists' town of Riebeck Kasteel.
