The project was designed in April 2018. Firstly, it was to serve as an installation for the Afrika Burn event that year. Secondly, the structure was to be dismantled and re-assembled at farm near Sedgefield, South Africa.
Here it would serve as a first home for one of the builders. The timber used was limited to 3m sections, which determined the optimum structural layout.
It aspired to traditional Viking construction methods, including notching and planing with hand tools. A large blue-gum section served as the centre-piece & table. The project remains unbuilt on the farm. The experience of building with skilled craftsmen in a remote area was invaluable.
